Body Composition Scan (DEXA)

In theory, most radical life-extensionists would be in great shape, however sometimes we fall short. Our goal is to solve aging itself through rejuvenation therapies, life-style intervention, preventative measures on an empirical basis to the best of our abilities. I have found that I am not motivated to get into better shape if I can “get away” with coasting on my appearances as someone who appears to be in decent shape but in reality I am just a skinny person that society does not judge.

A body composition scan will lay to rest any doubts about one’s physical shape. It might appear daunting but for myself it was a wake-up call to start hitting the gym. Sarcopenia is the technical name for the muscle loss that occurs as we age. It’s easier to combat sarcopenia by building muscles when we are in our 20s, 30s, 40s than trying to start from scratch. As a life-long sedentary computer-user I had work to do.

It is a societal bias that we assume someone with high body fat % is a larger person, but in reality, there are probably many “skinny fat” people like myself who are completely unaware of how unhealthy they are.

Some people say I am brave for showing my poor results but I think it’s important to share when things are not ideal. I found out I have lower bone mass than usual and I have 40% bodyfat which is also higher than usual despite being a petite person. Now I am supplementing with K2, D3 and started weight-lifting to improve my muscle and bone mass.
