Lifespan in 2022

Happy new year from us at Lifespan! Here is a rundown of all things Lifespan.

Over the past year, we hosted several events, provided perks and won grants for our Lifespan Community. These included:

  • Hikes, picnics and a cryogenics party.

  • Movie nights, game nights and debates on UBC campus for students.

  • Two Bodycomp events in collaboration with Bodycomp Imaging by Jevitty, hosted by lead technologists that informed us about the relationship between Lean Body Mass, Bone Density, and longevity.

  • Free Bodycomp Scan awarded to one attendee that came to our Bodycomp events.

  • Discounts on whole-genome sequencing.

  • Access to our blog posts.

  • Received a Partnership Recognition and Exploration fund worth $1500 by UBC, to host a research seminar for lifespan.

This upcoming year, we will be continuing to host events that foster community within Lifespan Society of BC, including:

  • A research seminar with key researchers in fields related to lifespan and longevity.

  • A DNA-workshop to learn about open-source softwares to analyse DNA.

  • More movie nights, game nights and debates on UBC campus for students.

  • More collaborations with UBC Powerbuilding Club, Bodycomp Imaging by Jevitty, and others.

Please email us at aakanksha@lifespanbc.ca if you have ideas for more events we could host in the future.

For access to more events like this, please consider purchasing a Lifespan membership for this upcoming year. Student Memberships can be purchased by emailing us, and full Lifespan Memberships with additional perks can be purchased here

We hope to host more future events to educate Lifespan Members about longevity and lifespan in a non-biased and scientific way. Longevity isn't just about extending life, it's about having a healthy lifespan. It's about making conscious choices starting now to enrich our lives in a fulfilling way.
